Yes. Pelvic floor dysfunction and pain are common during pregnancy. There are various techniques and exercises you are able to participate in during pregnancy. Please let you clinician know you are pregnant on your first visit.

Pelvic floor dysfunction is a general term that includes different impairments and symptoms. Weakness of the pelvic floor is a common culprit for symptoms such as urinary or fecal incontinence. Strengthening of the pelvic floor is an important aspect of treating pelvic floor dysfunction. However, there is more than just Kegels that we need to engage when addressing weakness of the pelvic floor. Furthermore, research shows that more than 50% of individuals do Kegel exercises incorrectly, even with written or verbal instructions. Allowing a licensed clinician to teach the proper technique of engaging your pelvic floor will set you on the path to success.

This varies from patient to patient. Our treatments are individualized and may change from patient to patient. Some factors that play a role in treatment duration are the length of time an individual has been dealing with the problem (chronic issues take longer time to resolve), past medical /surgical history, motivation level and commitment to the treatment. Patients play a key and active role in their rehabilitation.
